    • Specialty vehicles: Manufacture of heavy-duty trucks, motor vehicle bodies and modified vehicles such as emergency vehicles, maintenance vehicles, dump trucks, tankers, panel vans, semi-trailers and trailers.
    • Recreational vehicles: Design, development and manufacture of snowmobiles, personal watercraft, all-terrain vehicles (ATVs), side-by-side ATVs and roadsters, as well as the manufacture of parts and accessories for these types of vehicles.
    • Automobiles: Manufacture of parts and accessories for assembly lines and the replacement market.
    • Motorcoaches and city buses: Manufacture of motorcoaches and bodies for upscale motorhomes, design and manufacture of conventional and hybrid city buses, manufacture of mini school buses, for specialized transit.
    • Rail equipment: Manufacture of rail rolling stock and fixed stock, remanufacturing and major servicing, supply of related products and specialized services.
  • In Québec, there are approximately 30 research centres specializing in the development of novel technologies in numerous fields, including lightweight materials, new electric and hybrid propulsion systems, mechatronics, embedded intelligence, acoustics and alternative fuels.
  • Québec is a global leader in the snowmobile and personal watercraft markets and, more recently, in the roadster market, thanks in large part to the many innovative technologies developed by Québec engineers.
  • Bombardier Transportation started up its railway operations in Québec, eventually becoming the world's top manufacturer of rolling stock. Its North American headquarters are located in Québec, along with a production facility specializing in stainless steel manufacturing that will soon, in conjunction with Alstom, make nearly 500 new cars for the Montréal metro using highly reliable, sustainable leading-edge products.

Getting results by thinking creatively

  • BRP's Can-Am Spyder roadster delivers a one-of-a-kind driving experience thanks to its unique three-wheeled geometry (two wheels in the front and one in the back). The Spyder is a lightweight vehicle that stands out for its innovative design, comfort, safety and state-of-the-art embedded technologies.
  • The Cameleon, a new multifunctional maintenance vehicle designed and manufactured by RPM Tech, can transform from a tracked snow-removal vehicle to an articulated four-wheel-drive vehicle in under four hours.
  • The Nova LFX, developed and produced by Nova Bus, is a high-capacity bus designed for public transit use in high-density urban areas. The LFX provides time-tested performance, unique styling, optimal comfort and an integrated intelligent transportation system.

Getting ahead by propelling forward

Electric vehicles

Québec is heavily invested in the development, manufacture and marketing of electric vehicles, a sector in which it possesses extensive expertise. Nearly 30 companies in Québec operate in fields related to electric vehicles, including:

  • vehicle batteries;
  • power systems;
  • lightweight materials.

In the next three years, the province will be supporting the design and manufacture of prototype electric city buses featuring cutting-edge technologies developed by Québec businesses and research facilities.

Specialty vehicles and transportation equipment manufacturer's association (AMETVS)

The AMETVS is a business network dedicated to the economic development of the transportation industry (public transit vehicles, vehicle bodies, specialty vehicles, recreational vehicles, automobiles and defence and security vehicles).

Through innovative action focusing on interregional and international networking, it helps foster growth and outreach for its members.
