The ministère du Développement économique, de l'Innovation et de l'Exportation is aware of the impact of research on Québec's economic and social development and, as a result, supports all aspects of industrial, college and university research.

There are many ways in which the department assists organizations dedicated to the promotion, development and transfer of research; research centres and institutes; and research consortiums having obtained a validation certificate from the MDEIE.

The Ministère has also taken the initiative to target major research infrastructures in Québec of particular interest to Canadian and foreign researchers in order to create a virtual directory.
